A Raleigh County man is arrested and charged with sex charges.

Trooper Robert Daniel arrested Jason Ray Whittaker, 36, of Odd at 4 p.m., Tuesday.

Whittaker is charged with 2 counts of failure to register as a sex offender.   This is his second offense.

Trooper Daniel said Whittaker has a 2001 conviction for predatory criminal assault of a 13-year-old girl in McHenry, IL.   He is currently registered in Raleigh County.    He must register for life because the victim was a minor.

According to Trooper Daniel, Whittaker was arrested in March for driving suspended and providing false information to the WV State police.   During that investigation, they found out he was living at a home that was not listed on his sex offender registry.   Troopers also found out he was driving a vehicle without updating his information.

Tuesday’s arrest is Whittaker’s 2nd for sex offender registry violations.   Each count carries a possible 10 to 25 year sentence.  Right now he’s on probation for his 1st conviction for failing to register as a sex offender in 2014.
