A case of child neglect that sent a three-year-old girl to the hospital will wait a little longer.  Andrew Uzmack, who pleaded guilty to child neglect creating risk of serious injury, will be given a comprehensive evaluation before he is sentenced.

Uzmack was taking care of his girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter in January 2014 when the girl was injured.  The child was taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center where it was discovered she had bleeding on her brain.  Uzmack claimed the child tripped and fell while running to the bathroom.  The girl’s mother, Kristin Bocim was apparently at work when the incident happened.

Bocim pleaded guilty to a similar charge in November 2014.  She was sentenced to two years on probation.  Uzmack will be held in the Northern Regional Jail while the 60-day court ordered evaluation is completed.  His sentencing was rescheduled for noon on May 4, 2015 in front of Judge Omar Aboulhosn.
