State troopers investigate fatal accident on Route 16


A police chase in Fayette County ends with one man dead and two others in the hospital.  

The crash happened at around 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 in the Hilltop area.

According investigators it started as a simple traffic stop.  A Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a car headed North on Route 16 that had an expired inspection sticker.  When the deputy turned around to try and stop the vehicle, the driver tried to drive away at high speed. 

The driver, who is identified a Dennis Rudolph Price of Fayette County, went into the southbound lane to try and pass another car and spotted another car head straight at him.  Price tried to get back into the northbound lane, but clipped the car he was trying to pass.  That sent Price’s car head on into the vehicle headed the other direction.

State Troopers are investigating the accident.  They said Price was killed in the collision.  

There were two sisters in the other car.  They had to be flown to Charleston Area Medical Center.  Their names and conditions have not been released.
