Students at Park Middle School collected 724 pounds of dog food for a K-9 that recently died unexpectedly. The dog belonged to the school’s resource officer, Corporal J.W. Legursky. The dogs name was Artie, and after he died, students decided to have a dog food drive to support a local animal shelter.
J.W. LEGURSKY: A lot of students suffered a loss, it wasn’t just me. It effected the community. So a lot of the kids were teary eyed and I got a lot of cards and stuff like that. A lot of good words and good stuff came out of it.
It took the students 2 weeks to collect all the food.
Corporal Legursky said it’s humbling to see how much these kids cared about the K-9.
