Texas fugitive arrested in Princeton, WV

Princeton Police have arrested a man who was wanted in Texas.  Michael Ryan Blackwell was pulled over on Mercer Street in Princeton, WV on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015.  The traffic stop was for not having a registration on his car.  During the stop, officers discovered Blackwell was wanted in Texas on a probation violation.  He was convicted in the Lone Star state of impersonating an officer and drug charges.

Blackwell told investigators he left Texas because he was shot three times in the arm and did not want to get shot again.  He was apparently staying with a family friend and was driving the friend’s car when he was pulled over.

Officers said Blackwell will be extradited back to Texas withing 10 days.  He was arraigned in front of Mercer County Circuit Judge Omar Aboulhosn on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.
