Thousands celebrate at Princeton Christmas Parade

Thousands of people hit the streets in Mercer County Monday evening for the City of Princeton’s Annual Christmas Parade.

It kicked off earlier this evening on Mercer Street. This year’s theme was Christmas wishes..

More than 100 participants rode the parade route, which goes down Mercer Street, past the post office, and to the Mercer County Courthouse.  Thousands of people lined up to see this holiday tradition. 

Dillan Emrich was one of the children riding Carousel Farm’s float. She said Princeton’s Christmas Parade is a tradition.

“We do this just about every year, since I was little,” said Emrich. “I’ve been here since I was four, so we’ve been doing this a really long time.”

Float winners were announced Monday night by the Princeton-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce. First place in the civic category: Carousel Farm Kids Club.Second Place Civic: Southern WV Animal League
 
First Place Individual: Relay For Life-Heather Phillips
 
First Place Religious: Silver Springs Baptist Church
Second Place Religious: Princeton Praise & Worship Center
 
First Place Business: Suddenlink
There was a tie for 2nd place Business: Mercer County Technical Education Center and Princeton Community Hospital
