Appalachian Power is reporting there are thousands of customers without electricity in West Virginia. According to their online outage map at 6 p.m. there are 2,248 customers in Greenbrier County, 2,677 customers in Fayette County, 2068 customers in Nicholas County, 691 customers in Raleigh County and 151 customers in Summers County without power.
There are more than 25,000 homes and business in the dark across the mountain state. Another 5,000 people are in the dark in Virginia. Appalachian Power crews are working to restore electricity. Both Nicholas and Greenbrier Counties have declared states of emergency.
