A new Krispy Kreme, Bojangles’ and Cookout are developing on Robert C. Byrd Dr.
The Krispy Kreme will be built near the Raleigh Mall, on the south side of United Bank. The Bojangles’ is coming in the Beckley Plaza. What was once Reds Barbeque and a Shell gas station will be replaced with the Cookout.
Bob Cannon, City of Beckley Chief of Code Enforcement, tells 59News he expects all of them to see success as soon as they open.
“The newness phase will have an immediate surge in terms of customers,” Cannon says. “If it’s a restaurant and the food’s good, they’ll keep coming back. We have a major advantage here because we are the hub of this part of the state.”
Robert C. Byrd Dr. features many places to shop. People who work for these businesses say with more places to eat, they expect more customers to visit their stores.
“Our parking lot, it’s like the Indy 500 on a daily basis,” says Daniel Bradford, Schewels sales consultant. “Everybody’s here in this area for some reason or another. So I think it’s a great strategic point for any restaurant, or any type of business.”
Cannon says right now decisions are being made involving parking, water and other utilities. He tells 59News there is also still a lot of paperwork to complete for the safety requirements of the three restaurants. He hopes to have construction start within the next few months.
