Firefighters were called to the West Virginia Turnpike on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 after there were reports of a truck on fire. It happened near Mile Marker 49 in the southbound lanes at around 4:30 p.m.. That is not too far before the North Beckley intersection onto Route 19.
When crews arrived they shut down the interstate, causing a massive traffic back up. They were able to get the fire put out and there were no injuries as a result of the blaze. There was no indication of what may have lead to the fire, but an electrical problem may have been to blame. The cab of the truck was a complete loss. Traffic was flowing again at around 6 p.m.
