UPDATE: 2nd suspect identified in Bluefield shooting


UPDATE 11/5/2014:

Bluefield Police arrested the man they believe to be the getaway driver in the Edgemont Drive shooting.  Charles Mitchell was found at around 9 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2015.  He is charged with felony conspiracy, and accessory to wanton endangerment. He was arrested at the EconoLodge in Bluefield.

ORIGINAL STORY: In Mercer County, Bluefield Police are searching for a getaway driver after a shooting on Edgemont Drive in Bluefield.  Investigators said warrants have been issued but they aren’t releasing the identity of the second suspect as of Wednesday November 4, 2015.  On Saturday October 31, 2015 Clifton Henderson, Jr. was arrested after reportedly shooting Randy Datson.  People in the community said Bluefield isn’t like it used to be.

Billy Rose said, “I carry a gun wherever I go just in case.  I got a family and everything.  I hope I never have to use it of course.”

Willie Freeman, Jr. has lived in Bluefield all his life. He thinks the spike in crime is unusual.

Freeman said, “I think the basic thing of this is people don’t serve and obey the Lord like they used to.”

Anyone with information on the getaway driver can call the Bluefield Police Department.
