The Raleigh County Public Service District announced on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 that a boil water advisory that was issued on Monday for the area of Slab Fork, WV has been lifted.
A boil water advisory was issued on Monday, July 27, 2015 for the Slab Fork water system. According to workers at the Slab Fork Public Service District, the order was issued by Beckley Water Company after an unspecified water problem occurred. The advisory says there is a high probability that drinking water was contaminated.
Testing has not yet been performed to confirm any contamination, but officials advise residents not to drink their water without boiling it first. Officials say boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing, and food preparation until further notice.
