UPDATE: Escaped suspect from Boone County found

4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 UPDATE:

According to Magistrate Burns, Branham was found around 3 p.m. He was hiding in a culvert on the riverbank next to Main Street, in Madison, WV. The lockdowns of Madison Middle School and Scott High School have been lifted.


ORIGINAL STORY: A prisoner has escaped from the Boone County Courthouse in Madison, West Virginia.  According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, a prisoner escaped from the courthouse on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016.  Justin Branham escaped from the courthouse between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.  According to Magistrate Sammy Burns, Branham was appearing in court for Grand Larceny, Conspiracy, and Breaking & Entering, a felony.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Troopers and Madison Police officers are all working on the investigation.  Madison Middle School and Scott High School are on lockdown due to the escape.  We will continue to update this story as we get new information
