UPDATE: Police have new leads in locating murder suspect in Mercer County

Officers in Mercer County follow up on two tips they received about a murder suspect.  Bluefield West Virginia Police Detective K.L. Adams said they got tips that the suspect, Nyiheem Whitlow, was at a hotel called Sleep Inn in Wytheville, Virginia on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.  Adams said they also received a tip that the suspect was at a Wal-Mart in McDowell County on Wednesday.

Whitlow is wanted by police in connection to the Lance Terry murder investigation.  Officers said Whitlow shot Terry to death in Bluefield on Monday, March 16, 2015.  

Adams said,”We received a tip yesterday from an individual at the Sleep Inn hotel in Wytheville, Virginia.  Stated that he had asked to use the restroom which they told him that there was not a restroom that he could use unless he was an actual customer there. At that time, the individual actually cursed the clerk at that location and then left the premises.” 

Adams said the U.S. Marshals Service is involved.  The FBI has also contacted officers.  If you have any information on where the suspect is, call the Bluefield West Virginia Police Department at 304-327-6101.

UPDATE: Detective Adams with the Bluefield, WV Police Department told 59News on Thursday, March 19, 2015 that investigators have new leads in the search for murder suspect Nyiheem Whitlow. Adams said Whitlow could be headed to North Carolina. Detectives said they received a tip that Whitlow was seen at a hotel in Wytheville, VA. 

Whitlow is wanted by police in connection to the Lance Terry murder investigation. Officers said Whitlow shot Terry to death on Essex Street in Bluefield, WV. If you have any information on Whitlow’s whereabouts, please contact the Bluefield Police Department at 304-327-6101.

UPDATE: New information was released on Tuesday on the murder investigation in Bluefield, Mercer County. Officers said the victim is Lance Terry, 25. He was reportedly shot to death on the corner of Essex and Union streets. Police said the incident started as a domestic dispute. 

Investigators said they’re searching for Nyiheem T. Whitlow, 19, in connection to the shooting. Whitlow is 5’5″, weighs 185 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes. Police said Whitlow’s last known address is on the 900 block of College Avenue. Detectives told us he may be driving a green or gold Ford Focus.

Officers with the Bluefield Police department are investigating a shooting and murder that happened just before 7:00 p.m. Monday on Essex Street in Bluefield, Mercer County.

Officers told our crew on scene a man was taken to Bluefield Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. His identity is not being released at this time. A witness told us she heard 3 gunshots, and then a car backed into her garage, damaging her home.  The victim was driving the car.
