UPDATE: Suspect takes lottery tickets in Mt. Hope break-in


Authorities in Fayette County responded to the scene of a break-in at a convenience store early on Monday, July 27, 2015. It was reported at Dan’s Kwik Stop in Mount Hope just before 4 a.m., according to dispatchers.

Deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call.  Deputies said when they arrived the glass door was broken.  The suspect also broke through a glass counter top in order to steal lottery tickets.  According to deputies around $200 was taken from the cash register.  Damage to the store is estimated at around $1,600.

The suspect is described as a white man who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweat shirt and a baseball cap.  He had a white bandanna to hide his face.

“We encourage WV Lottery retailers in the local area to be alert for anyone attempted to cash in multiple winning WV lottery “scratch-off tickets,”  said Sheriff Steve Kessler. 

If anyone has information about the crime, they are asked to contact the Fayette County 911 Center at 304-574-3590 or CrimeStoppers at 304-255-7867. The investigation remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the WV Lottery Commission.
