UPDATE: Victim identified in the fatal Meadow Bluff fire


UPDATE 9/25/2015 10:50 a.m.

Officials have released the name of the man killed in a house fire that happened in Meadow Bluff on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. 86 year old James Posten was killed in the fire.  He was the homeowner. Officials believe the fire started from his ceramic space heater. 

Authorities got a call just before 7 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 and responded to a house fire in the Meadow Bluff area of Greenbrier County. 
When they arrived, deputies say the house was already engulfed in flames.Early in the morning, firemen declared the fire fatal after one person was found dead. 

Kevin Sawyers of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department said, “We responded this morning to a fire in progress, a structure fire, upon arrival firemen determined that it was a fatal fire. At this time, it’s under investigation by the Fire Marshall’s office.”
Authorities say it took almost two hours to put the fire out and that while the cause of the blaze does not look suspicious, it will remain under investigation.
