This weekend, several men in Tazewell County will put their best foot forward in the fight against rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. April is sex assault awareness month. It’s all part of the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Campaign hosted by Clinch Valley Community Action, Inc. in Tazewell. The walk is an international men’s march. The event will be held at the track at Tazewell High School. It will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2015. It begins at 4 p.m.
Case Manager with Family Crisis Services, Norma Bowman, said, “It’s a big public awareness to help us with funding with our sexual assault program.” About 56 men will be walking a mile in heels. Bowman said each participant has raised at least $100.
