WANTED: Beckley Police search for suspect in shootout investigation


On Jan. 14, 2016, Officers with the Beckley Police Department were called to a shooting at the entrance of Lewis Richie Apartments in Beckley. According to detectives, Anthony Boxley and Darius Cook got into a disagreement in the parking lot of apartment complex.  That’s when the two apparently began shooting at each other.

Investigators said multiple shots were fired and Anthony Boxley was hit in the leg. Darius Cook drove off in a Black Grand Jeep Cherokee, Boxley apparently shot the Jeep several times as Cook left the scene.  Boxley was taken to an area hospital for treatment.  He is reported to be in stable condition.

Both men face charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and Wanton Endangered. Anyone with information on Darius Cook’s location is asked to contact the Beckley Police Department at 304-256-1708.
