Week 3 of High School Football SportsZone (Part 2)


 The Princeton Tigers looked to rebound after a close loss to Bluefield on September 4th, they hosted Martinsburg on Friday. Head Coach Wes Eddy began his career at Princeton with a Week 1 Win over Shady Spring, but things would not go his way in Week 3. Jordan Jones tried to keep his team in the game with a touchdown in the 2nd quarter while helping the Tigers rack up 294 yards on the ground, but the Bulldogs of Martinsburg walk away with a 35-21 win. Princeton is now 1-2 on the season and will travel to Lincoln County on the 18th. 

 Down in Virginia, The Graham G-Men picked up their first win last Friday against Tazewell, but this week they traveled to Richlands where the Blue Tornado blew them away. Graham QB Roman Workman had his hands full – He threw a pick six to Austin Atkinson. Richlands wins 49-7 at home. The Blue Tornado hit the road to take on Central, while Graham (1-2) will get a week off to regroup for their battle with Giles on September 25th.

 The Tazewell Bulldogs played host to Grayson County on Friday Night. The Bulldogs sitting at 0-2, while Grayson County entered at 2-0. The team’s records well-represented the outcome as the Blue Devils win this one. Tazewell is now 0-3 and will hit the road for Week 4.

 Montcalm hosted Narrows on Friday night in Class A action. The Generals opened their season with a win over Hannan, but after Week 3, they sit at 1-2 falling to Narrows 40-6. 

 Out in McDowell County a pair of Class AA games featured some closely contested teams. Mt. View drops a close one to Independence, who now improves to 3-0, while Mt. View drops it’s second straight, now 1-2 on the season. The Golden Knights’ only win coming in Week 1 over River View who has had a tough start to the season as well. The Raiders had a week off since their loss in Welch, and in Week 3 hosted Herbert Hoover. The Hoover Huskies had no trouble with the Raiders, winning 48-6. River View will now travel to take on Man in Week 4.
