Welch Vol. Fire Dept. to receive federal grant

Emergency responders in McDowell County will be getting new tools to help those in need.  Congressman Evan Jenkins (R-WV) announced on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 that Welch Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a grant of $43,523 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  The money will be used to buy new extrication tools, including cutters and spreaders commonly referred to as the “Jaws of Life.”

“Fire departments play a very important role in every community.  This grant will allow the Welch Volunteer Fire Department to improve its emergency response services,” said Rep. Jenkins. “I offer my congratulations to the department for being selected for this important grant and thank them for all they do to keep us safe.”
