Douglas Fritz is a veteran of WVNS from when the station first went on the air with the news in 2003. He began as a teleprompter operator and moved up through the ranks from Associate Producer to Producer. He has worked on every show in the WVNS inventory.
Currently, He is the Digital Content Manager and is responsible for ensuring digital news content is generated and promoted on the web and on social media platforms. He has received the Best Use of Digital Content award from the West Virginia Broadcasters Association for four years in a row from 2016 to 2019. He also received the Best Website Award from the Associated Press for Two Virginias in 2018.
When not working in the news Doug is a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy Reserve where he is attached to Navy Mobile Construction Battalion 14. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008 and is a member of the Beckley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4469. Last, but not least, he is a member of the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers of West Virginia
