On Friday, June 15, 59 News held it’s third annual ‘Fill The Boot For Food’ drive. The drive celebrated the founding of our parent company, Nexstar.

However, it went beyond that, helping the community by collecting donations to fill the boot to feed our friends and neighbors. All the proceeds are going to the United Way of Southern West Virginia and the United Way of Greenbrier Valley to help fill food banks in the region.

We want to thank all of the volunteers from the Lewisburg Police Department, Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department, Beaver Volunteer Fire Department and the Princeton Fire Department.

“A lot of people came and donated money and it was really nice to see the community come out and support us. So, we had a really positive event that day. Not sure the count yet but i’m sure it will be a very good amount of money that the citizens donated,” Princeton Fire Chief, Chad Bailey, said.

Our friends at City National Bank are busy counting all of the money we raised. We will announce the totals for each locations soon.
