PRINCETON, WV (WVNS)- Glenwood Park now has a new environmentally friendly way to dispose of fishing lines.

Keep Mercer Clean and Mercer County Litter Control worked to provide the park with four mono-filament fishing line recycling containers. These containers will be used for people to get rid of their fishing lines.

Joshua Parks, Mercer County Litter Control Officer, said this way, the park can stay clean and wildlife will not be put in danger by getting caught in the lines.

“Birds have been tangled up in the fishing line and fish, and they’ve died because of it. So if we can keep the line off the ground and out of the water, and I think it benefits everybody,” Parks said.

These containers are also available for people to bring old lines to recycle if any are laying around the house.
