Winter’s fury may be far from over, but it is coincidental for one of the season’s most enjoyable activities. January marks Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, looking to add more thrill seekers to the slopes in what is considered the deepest part of winter.
But do not get too ahead of yourself, Will Horton, who supervises the ski school for Winterplace Ski Resort, warned it is always best to learn from the pros, not just when it comes to equipment.
“How to control your speed, how to where to turn, what slopes to ski on next, how to ride the lift safely, what clothes you need to have on if you’re missing something,” Horton said. “[It’s] all the aspects of which you need to learn how to ski with or to snowboard.”
Keep in mind, learning sessions with Winterplace’s skilled professionals are seasonal, not year-round.
