Numerous schools in Raleigh and Fayette counties have New River Health Centers inside their buildings.

These health centers provide medical, mental health, health education and dental services to students. Students and staff can visit these centers during the school day and not miss a day of class.

It is important to make sure children have their vaccines before putting them on the bus for the first day

“Well I think two things to prevent yourself from getting the diseases and also to prevent spreading them. There’s a lot of teachers who may be pregnant. Any kind of disease prevention is important in this day and age,” Cindy Whitlock, School Health Director New River Health Association, said.

These school based health centers only require kids to sign up once, and it will be good for the child’s entire school career.
