For flight paramedic Kevin “Wrap” Bess, Tuesday, May 7, 2019 was another day on the job at Air Evac Life Team. But that morning, his coworkers decided to surprise him for his exceptional service.

Bess said 2019 marks 20 years in the medical evacuation field. He said it is a career, both rewarding in saving the lives of patients, and getting involved with the lives of his colleagues.

“It’s a brotherhood,” Bess said. “We climb in this aircraft every day and go do the best we can for the citizens that we serve.”

In addition to working in the air, Bess also works for the Cedar Grove Fire Department, where he reported for the last 45 years and counting.
