For the third year, Second Saturdays in Hinton is back. On Saturday, May 11, Hinton will ring in a new tradition by honoring those who served. In particular, they will honor sergeant Mecot Camara, who was close friends with co-chairman of Second Saturdays, Kristi Scott.
A big motorcycle ride in his honor will happen at 3 p.m. on Saturday. All are welcome to join. At 5 p.m., they will have flags to honor those who serve or have served, and a concert series.
“I think our veterans need a lot of gratitude. Ones in the past, ones that are presently serving, the ones that have served. To honor Mecot this way, he would be so excited. It’d be like a big party for him. He would love it,” Scott said.
Scott also said to be ready for June’s Second Saturdays event, which will include the Color the River event.
