PINEVILLE, WV (WVNS) — Governor Jim Justice confirmed Pinnacle Mine is close to producing coal.

Governor Justice told 59News the cleaning plant is currently being tested. Justice added they are just a few weeks from opening one section of the mine.

“We are about three to four weeks from opening the Greenridge Deep Mine and then that will be with the first section. The second section will follow in about two months and the third section will follow after that, provided the coal market doesn’t run away from us and everything,” Gov. Justice said.

Justice also said more than 300 people have been hired to work in the mine, so far.

Pinnacle Mine closed in October 2018, but was later purchased by the Justice Family.
