LATEST: Fatal domestic violence case ruled self-defense

PINEVILLE, WV (WVNS) — 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2020: No charges are filed in an investigation into a case of domestic violence case from the Baileysville area which left one person dead. Deputies said it was a case of self-defense.

Medwin Willard was killed on Saturday, Nov. 28. Investigators said he was attacking the victim in the case when she pulled out gun and shot him. Willard died of his injuries.


9:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020: One person is dead following a shooting in Wyoming County on Saturday.

At this point in the investigation, Chief Deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, Brad Ellison, said the shooting appears to be in self defense. Details are limited at this time. However, the investigation is still ongoing.

Dispatch told 59News the shooting happened in the Cub Creek area of Baileysville on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020. Details are limited at this time as the investigation continues. There is no word on any injuries.
