NWS Damage Survey Team confirms EF-1 tornado in Pulaski County, Virginia Friday night

PULASKI COUNTY, VA (WFXR) — The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado in Pulaski County.

A significant wind event and an EF-1 tornado snapped trees and damaged structures in Giles and Pulaski county Friday evening. A single supercell generated winds near 100 mph at times as it migrated SSE from Giles to Pulaski county. The Supercell produced a brief tornado in Pulaski county as the storm cell intensified. The tornado was confirmed Saturday afternoon by the NWS as an EF-1 touching down near Bella Vista at approximately 8:10 pm. Wind speeds were estimated at 90 – 95 mph, was 50 yards wide and on the ground for about a quarter of a mile.

No fatalities or injuries were reported.

Prior to the tornado, the damage survey team documented strait line winds consistent with a microburst in both Giles and Pulaski counties.
