Saturday September 29, 2018 a free community wellness fair was held in Beckley at Memorial Baptist Church. Beckley ARH partnered with Active Southern West Virginia and Raleigh County Commission on Aging for the event.

This event was a part of Beckley ARH’s “Well I Bee” Senior Wellness Program. At the event people were able to participate in events from Zumba to Pickleball.

Dee Sizemore works for Beckley ARH and Erin Reid works at Active SWV. They said for the event said this is a great way for everyone to get active.

“A lot of times older adults don’t realize the need for physical activity. And it’s really easy for all of us to get sedentary in our life styles and to ignore that physical activity and the need for it,” Sizemore said.

“The thing that Active Southern West Virginia wants to promote is that we offer these free programs so that anyone can come out and do,” Reid said.

If you were unable to make the wellness event you can contact Jeri Knowlton or Dee Sizemore at Beckley ARH or Active Southern West Virginia for upcoming events.
