Cold temperatures can cause pipes to freeze in your house

Raleigh County

While many people are preparing themselves for cold temperatures, others are also making sure their homes are ready. The freezing temperatures can cause pipes in your home to freeze.

Jerry Smales, CEO of Beckley Plumbers, said there are several ways you can avoid frozen pipes this winter.

“A lot of plumbers try to keep it a secret which is to open up your cabinets. If you open up your cabinets you allow the heat to penetrate into the walls and unthaw any freezing pipes if you have them,” Smales said.

Smales also said to let water drip from your faucet to keep pipes from freezing. If you have any pipe issues this winter, contact your local plumber.
