September is National Recovery Month and local groups are coming together to bring awareness to the importance of recovering.

One Voice is co-hosting a free showing of Recovery Boys this coming Monday, September 24. It will start at 6 p.m. at the Raleigh Playhouse Theater. The other hosts include: PBS and Raleigh County Prevention Coalition.

After the showing, there will be a panel discussion for those to speak more about recovery. Program Director for One Voice, Melonie Terry, said the community needs to reach out to those trying to get better.

“These are individuals that are suffering from substance abuse disorder and it really doesn’t define who they are, it doesn’t relate to their identity, their value or their worth,” Terry said.

The showing is free and open to the public. There will be a number of recovery resources available at the event as well.
