The Mountaineers traveled to Orlando, Florida for the Camping World Bowl, and they took a piece of Southern West Virginia with them.
The Woodrow Wilson High School Marching Band joined WVU as they face off against Syracuse. The Flying Eagles’ band performed during halftime, an exciting prospect for Band Director, Andrew Pinick.
“To be able to perform in that size stadium and especially for our home state team is an experience they will never forget,” Pinick said.
It has been a huge undertaking for the band. They have practiced every day after school to get ready, and on Wednesday, December 26, they set out for Orlando, and Pinick said they are ready to shine.
“The dedication that they give, the time they put in, not too many people can do it and they do it without batting an eye. They do it with a smile on their face, they’re just an awesome awesome group of kids,” Pinick said.
The bowl game is not their last stop. The Woodrow Wilson band will also lead a holiday Parade at Universal Studios on Saturday, December 29.
