A local gym held a cooking class on Saturday for those wanting to learn how to eat healthy.
Eating healthy does not have to be boring. Owners of LA East Fitness Center, Cindy and David Chinn, hosted a healthy cooking class for the community.
“We try to take every day dishes, but find a way to make them healthier,” Chinn said.
One of the meals they prepared during the class, was a healthy pizza. Instead of using pizza crust they substituted it with cauliflower.
“It is delicious! I think just showing them today, and letting them have a little taste, that light bulb affect kind of goes off that you can change what you eat and still have the foods that you love,” Chinn said.
Around 30 people attended the class. For Jeanie Campbell, she has adapted this way of life for her and her family, and has seen some extremely positive changes.
“For myself it has reduced my medication that I am on, and we feel better,” Campbell said.
Chinn explains having classes like these help people understand the importance of eating clean. You can read articles online, but nothing beats seeing it in person.
“We are a little confused about food and what it does to our body, so this is just our way of starting the education process and slowly changing one person at a time,” Chinn explained.
The Chinn family hopes they can make a positive impact in the community, one meal at a time.
They will be offering more classes in the future. It is $15 per person and everyone gets to take home a meal. For more information you can visit their website at http://www.laeastfitness.net/home.html.
