Community members gathered in Beckley’s New River Park for the 14th annual Juneteenth Cookout. Burgers, hot dogs, and other items on the menu were donated by the Beckley Walmart.
Four-year event councilmember Tina Pannell stresses the holiday’s importance about the cameraderie and companionship among all colors and creeds.
“It lets them know that we’re there for them through thick and thin,” Pannell said. “There’s someone you can always call upon.”
The food, fun, and fellowship drew in more than 200 people to the park.
