As the weather continues to cool down, one non-profit is making sure those in need are staying warm.

One Voice in Beckley, has a blessing box outside of its building year round. It is a box filled with snacks, toiletries, and basic necessities that can be taken whenever needed.

Now, that winter is here, those with One Voice realize that most of these people need more than just pretzels and deodorant. Director of One Voice, Melonie Terry, said they started putting out jackets, hats, gloves and scarves for people to grab from the blessing box.

“It is geared for the homeless, students who are in need on campus, maybe their dollar does not stretch as far as it can or should, so it’s for the entire community,” Terry said.

Members have also come together to make decorated Christmas cookies to put in the blessing box. They want to make sure people feel cared for during the holidays.
