Preparations under way for Beckley Day of Hope

Raleigh County

Preparations are under way for the 6th annual Beckley Day of Hope at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.

Beckley Day of Hope is on Saturday, August 18, at 10 a.m., rain or shine. The event will offer a number of free services; from haircuts, to family portraits and 60,000 pounds of groceries to take home. There will also be a kid zone full of activities for the young ones to enjoy, and they have fifteen hundred shoes to give away for students. Shoe sizes are for toddlers all the way through high school. Event Coordinator, Heather Radford, said this is what Southern West Virginia is all about.

“We do this basically just because these are the people we go to church with. The people we see at the grocery store, we’re at the gas stations with, and us coming together to life each other up. No matter what your status is, we’re all going through difficult times and to just be around people in a day that we’re here to encourage each other,” Radford said.
