A local elementary school is hosting a field day for students with special needs. Stratton Elementary school is having their first ever Bulldog Invitational next Monday, May 7. The event will go on from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 12 different Raleigh County elementary schools will be involved.

This event will allow students with disabilities to be involved in a number of outdoor activities and competitions. All of the students will receive medals and the school that wins the most competitions will go home with a trophy.

“I’ve been here for about five years now and I thought we needed something here, and Stratton is the perfect place because we have the football field that goes up against our playground so we have plenty of room to make that happen,” Special Education Teacher at Stratton Elementary, Taffy Robertson, said.

The field day is only for the students and their parents. Stratton Elementary hopes to make this an annual event.
