Those with serious health issues should have plan to get prescriptions in big storm

Raleigh County

With a storm like Hurricane Florence coming this way and as with any bad weather, its always good to check medications and have up to an extra week’s supply incase power is out or roads are closed.

Anyone with oxygen tanks, needs to have back up sources and mobile tanks that do not require electricity.

Local pharmacist, Rhonda Rose, said all pharmacies have an emergency back up phone number and plan, but it is always smart to take precautions.

“If something happens and you run out of your medication, then you have to figure out a way to get to the hospital in an emergency,” Rose said. “So it’s good to have that and be prepared with your medicine.”

Rose said now is the time to call a pharmacist before it is too late. Most pharmacies will have no problem getting someone up to a weeks supply of necessary prescriptions.
