HINTON, WV (WVNS) — People in the community are walking for recovery. Summers County High School will host a Community Walk for Recovery Friday evening before the football game.
The walk is being held in honor of National Recovery Month. Principal Al Hudgins said their goal with this event is to teach people about the different resources available for those struggling with addiction.
“Well in Southern West Virginia, there’s a lot of opioid issues with our families and our youth, and there’s a lot of people trying to repair their lives and to recover from this abuse, and we want to let them know that we support them and that we are doing our best to cheer them on,” Hudgins said.
The walk starts Friday at 5 p.m. on the Summers County High School track. The event is free and open to anyone who wants to participate.
