Local organization collecting bikes for children

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) - A group of people who take pride in their cars is giving children some nice wheels for the holiday season.

The Blue Ridge Jeep Club is organizing a 'Cheerful Giver Bike Project'  for underprivileged kids around the Bluefield area.

They will be accepting monetary and bicycle donations for the cause. Founder and Organizer of the Jeep Club, Nelson Saddler, stressed they are doing this to help parents in need with gifts for their children.

"Myself being an ex coal miner, coal mines come and go, and businesses come and go with the coal industry, and it's just a tough time for children especially around the holidays," Saddler said.

Applications to receive a bike can be picked up at the Bluefield Union Mission and Salvation Army. The bikes will be distributed at the 'Cheerful Bike' holiday event on December 22 at Bluefield City Park.
