Sophia Police Department fills boots for fundraiser

SOPHIA, WV (WVNS) - The Sophia Police Department in Raleigh County pulled people over for a cause on Friday. Sophia Police Offers joined the Sophia City Fire Department to walk the streets and fill up boots with donations.

Patrol Officer Shane Meadows told 59 News the money raised will go towards their 'Shop With a Cop' event where they will take underprivileged children in the county shopping at WalMart.

"There's some children here that need help and families that need help, and that's what we're here to do," Meadows said. "It's all voluntary basis, it's donations and just to bring cheer for the holidays."

Local businesses also donated to the Shop with a Cop Fund. Their goal is to raise $5,000.
