UPDATE: Officer-involved shooting injures one following chase

- UPDATED STORY 9/17/2018 @ 9:30 AM   A Wyoming County man who was injured in an officer-involved shooting is facing charges following a chase through two counties Friday evening. 

Deputies arrested 29-year-old Christopher Roberts, according to Sgt. James Muncy with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office. 

Deputies were trying to pull over Roberts for reckless driving and a chase started. Roberts led them on a vehicle pursuit that started in McDowell County and ended in Wyoming County. 

Roberts is facing several charges including fleeing, no insurance, parole violation and improper registration.  Additional charges are pending.


The McDowell County Sheriff's Department reported a vehicle pursuit that began in McDowell County and ended in Wyoming County Friday evening.

The chase started in the Davy area of McDowell County. The vehicle then drove down Route 16 before turning on to Indian Creek Road in Wyoming County.

Deputies told 59News the driver attempted to use the vehicle as a weapon. The deputy then shot at the vehicle, and after another short chase, they arrested the driver.

No injuries were reported.

The McDowell County Sheriff's Department is being assisted by the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department, West Virginia State Police and West Virginia DNR.
