PINEVILLE, WV (WVNS) - Pinnacle Mine in Pineville is scheduled to shut down on Friday October 5, 2018, if a buyer is not found.
According to David Jackson with the Safety Committee for United Mine Workers of America, if a buyer is not found by Friday, the mine will shut down and water pumps will be turned off. This could result in the mine flooding, so finding a buyer is unlikely.
Jackson said over 400 miners will lose their jobs permanently.
