Beckley Sanitary Board wants people to imagine a day without water

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The Beckley Sanitary Board is holding a photo contest. The theme is ‘A Day Without Water.’

The sanitary board wants see photos of what people imagine a day without water would look like. Luke Stevens, an Environmental Specialist for the BSB, said the goal is get people thinking about the process it takes for them to have clean water.

“Water is one of those resources that we all too often take for granted. It’s coming clean out of the tap and then we flush the toilet and we don’t think any more about it. And then we use our streams and our lakes and our waterways, but we don’t think about all the process that goes into preserving that natural resource,” Stevens explained.

All entries must be original work. Photos can be submitted to the sanitary board by posting on A Day Without Water event page. The deadline is Oct. 20 at midnight.

The winner will be announced through Facebook on Oct. 23.
