Deputies in Fayette County took another set forward in the war on drugs.  On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, they searched a home in Scarbro.  As a result, they arrested Cortney D. Shelton, 24, of  Chicago and seized thousand of dollars worth of drugs.

Shelton is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver narcotics, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.  Deputies were able to get the search warrant after controlled drug purchases were made by the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force.

During the search, investigators found 107 grams of “crack” cocaine valued at around $10,700 and 52 grams of heroin which they said is worth $7,800.  They also found a large amount of money and two loaded handguns.  Shelton was previously convicted as a felon in Illinois.

“Sometimes when karma comes knocking at your front door, it has a search warrant,” said Sheriff Mike Fridley.

Shelton is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.  He is still awaiting arraignment.  If anyone has additional information on this case, they are asked to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department at 304-574-3590 or CrimeStoppers of West Virginia at 304-255-STOP (7867).  Anonymous tips can also be left online at the CrimeStoppers website or by using the P3 Tips App on a smart phone or mobile device.
