ATHENS, WV (WVNS) — Two employees with the Child Development Center at Concord University are suspended following an incident involving an infant.

School officials announced an internal investigation is underway after an incident happened on Monday, October 21, 2019, involving an infant enrolled in the center. Officials said the infant was not harmed.

Charles Becker, the Business and Finance VP at Concord, said an infant was left downstairs Monday evening instead of being brought upstairs when everyone else at the center left. The infant was not harmed during this incident. He also said safety precautions do exist at the center.

“People need to understand that it was an unfortunate incident. We’re very thankful that there was no harm done to the child. We have procedures in place and we are reviewing those procedures and we’ve implemented an additional procedure for that process that will avoid this situation in the future,” Becker said.
