Nearly 70 firefighters from five stations responded to a large blaze in Pomeroy overnight.
Around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, the Pomeroy Fire Department, along with the Middleport and Rutland Fire Departments were dispatched to a large fire at the former Midwest Streel/Mountaineer Metals Building on the 700 block of East Main Street.
A second alarm was sent out for additional resources and manpower from the Syracuse and Mason Volunteer Fire Departments, totaling nearly six dozen crews working on the fire.
Due to the sheer size of the fire, it took crews several hours to put the blaze out, with all crews returning to service by 4:15 a.m.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
Fire crews wanted to thank citizens who purchased bottled water and dropped it off to the responders.
