ASHLAND, Ky (WOWK) – A mother is facing charges after her 14-month-old was treated with Narcan.

Officers with the Ashland Police Department charged 23-year-old Jocelyn Smith, of Ashland, with wanton endangerment. Officers say more charges are possible.

Officers said Smith took her baby to the health department because she was sick and that’s when an ambulance was called. The baby was then taken to King’s Daughters’ Medical Center and treated with Narcan.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the mother’s home where they found drugs were readily available, but have yet to be officially identified.

The baby is no longer being medically treated and is being placed with other family members.

Smith was taken to the Boyd County Detention Center.
