Suspect leads officers on high-speed chase from Mercer to Summers County

Deputies have released the name of the man they said led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through multiple counties. 

Deputies tell 59 News they arrested Alex Joseph Cline of Pipestem Monday night. 

The chase started in Mercer County and ended in Summers County. Cline is charged with driving suspended second offense, fleeing DUI, DUI second offense and left of center.

A man is arrested after leading law enforcement officers on a chase through multiple counties.

According to state troopers, the chase started in Mercer County with deputies attempting to pull somebody over. 

The suspect led them on a chase which eventually involved West Virginia State Police, Hinton City Police, and Summers County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Troopers told 59News the chase went down Route 20 in Mercer County and Route 3 in Summers County all the way to Hinton. The chase reportedly reached speeds of up to 100 mph.

The chase eventually ended at the Exxon Station on Greenbrier Drive in Hinton.

Investigators also said the suspect was intoxicated when he was taken into custody. They are not releasing the suspect’s name, but added he will be facing several charges across multiple counties.
